Change is a part of life, but adapting to it can be a real challenge.
The uncertainty of a new situation has left you feeling so overwhelmed that you don’t even know where to start.
Maybe you…
Find yourself second-guessing your career choice and wondering what else you can do now that you have chosen this path
Just walked through your front door with a new baby and look around to see where the parents are because you still can’t believe that this tiny human is yours
Find the silence in the house deafening now that your kids are away at school, and you feel lost wondering what to do now that you are only responsible for yourself again
Are so excited and hopeful about getting married, but still a little freaked out spending the rest of your life with just one person
These big moments in our life can be paralyzing. While we want to move forward, we find that we feel stuck.
Periods of change can be like an emotional rollercoaster with the ups and downs feeling unpredictable. While on the outside it looks like you are holding it all together, what people don’t see is that on the inside, you are spiraling.
We go through many “seasons” in our life, and some are easier to navigate than others. Whether you are graduating, starting a new job or retiring, becoming new parents or empty nesters, getting married, making a big move or struggling with any “big shift” in your life, the emotions that come with these changes are real.
Helping you achieve a sense of steadiness during change
You are seeking to understand yourself better. To learn how to navigate stress and anxiety in a different way. To be more prepared when life throws another curveball your way.
While changes can be hard to navigate, therapy shouldn’t be!
In our work together, you will have the space to process and understand how these big changes have impacted you. We will look at your past, but also lean in and learn to sit with the uncertainty of the present in order to come out the other side. Our time together should not cause more stress and anxiety; however, it will bring up feelings. That’s ok…you and I can work through them together, allowing you to feel more confident and in control as you navigate this new chapter in your life!
Therapy during a major life transition can help you…
Gain clarity through decision-making, problem-solving and weighing pros and cons
Become more confident in yourself and develop coping strategies to better navigate the ups and downs of life
Feel supported while going through a new chapter in your life
Have a space to grieve the people or things that change
Identify and address challenges that may keep you stuck and prevent you from moving forward
Break down big tasks into more manageable steps and provide support as you work through the logistical or practical changes
Change is possible.
You can face change & uncertainty with confidence and we can learn to do it together.

Even though positive transitions can be a time of joy and excitement, they can also bring feelings of loss, overwhelm and anxiety. You may be leaving something behind, entering a new phase in your life or achieving something you have always wanted. These shifts, while positive can still leave us feeling a bit out of control which is where therapy can be beneficial.

While it is very common to experience a range of emotions when going through a major life transition, it is important to pay attention to those more distressing feelings (anxiety, overwhelm, sadness, irritability) and then note how long you have been experiencing them and in what ways are they impacting your day-to-day functioning. If you have concerns, or others have expressed concern, then therapy may be beneficial for helping you during the transition.
